Safety Equipment Grants Help Your Clients Prevent Falls

Having the right safety equipment can make all the difference in ensuring workers make it back to their families after a shift. But cost can be an obstacle for employers to provide the right equipment. State Fund’s Safety Equipment Grants Program can remove that obstacle by providing grants to help eligible policyholders equip their employees with fall prevention equipment.
Your State Fund clients in residential framing and roofing have another reason to take advantage of this program. The threshold for mandatory fall prevention equipment is changing. Beginning July 1, 2025, equipment will be mandatory starting at six feet. Your residential roofers and framers will likely need additional equipment.
Now in its second year, the SEG program has helped hundreds of policyholders obtain the safety equipment they need to prevent falls from heights. To date, we have provided more than 9,700 pieces of equipment to policyholders, protecting 1,100 employees working at heights. To be considered for a grant, policyholders must have at least one employee working from a height of at least six feet in one of the eligible classifications (below), must be in good standing, and must have an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Policyholders without an IIPP can create one using our IIPP BuilderSM.
Policyholders who received a Safety Equipment Grant last year may reapply for a grant this year.
Eligible classifications: If you have policyholders in carpentry, roofing, sheet metal, tree work, millwright, plumbing, wallboard installation, electrical, painting, scaffold, iron or steel works, and steel erection, please remind them to look for the email invitation and encourage them to apply.
